Sunset Hunter Found Dead
In Thicket Near Home

Edward Devalcourt, 80, of Sunset, was found dead Tuesday at 3 p. m. in a thicket near his home where he had been hunting rabbits.
Sheriff D. J. Doucet and Dr. Don deBlanc, St. Landry parish coroner, were called. Dr. deBlanc said death was due to a heart attack. He said Devalcourt had been dead for three or four hours when found.

Mrs. Devalcourt said that her husband had suffered a heart condition for some years and was not well Tuesday but insisted on hunting.

She said when the dogs returned from the thicket, barking loudly, she surmised something was wrong and followed them to the spot where her husband's body was.

Funeral services will be held today at 4 p. m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Coteau with Father Pierre Landry officiating.
Burial will be in the adjacent cemetery under direction of E. D. Melancon and Son Funeral Home of Carencro.

Devalcourt is survived by his wife, the former Eva Wills, and one brother, Willie Devalcourt, both of Sunset.
