Funeral services were held April 9, 2003 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for Joseph Rodney Mills, 66, who died April 9th at 12:05 p.m. in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital, Church Point, Louisiana.
Interment was in the church cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Jack Welsh, S. J. Associated pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church officiated.
Mr. Mills was a native of Sunset and a resident of Church Point. He was employed with the St. Landry School Board for 20 years. He had been a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Burleigh Mills of Sunset; four brothers, Charles L. Mills of Church Point. Henry Mills and his wife Marsh of Opelousa, Marion Mills and his wife Mable "Mae Beth" of Sunset and Andrew Mills and his wife Robin of Lake Charles; and six nephews and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Floyd Mills and one sister, Mary Nelda Mills.
Melancon Funeral Home in Grand Coteau, Louisiana was in charge of services.
