Funeral services for Mr. Thomas O. Savoie, 82, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home chapel with burial at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.

Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Courville.

Mr. Savoie died 1:52 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Opelousas General Health System. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific.

Mr. Savoie and his estranged wife, Eula Savoie, founded the Country Grocery Store in 1949 and started Savoie's Sausage Company in 1955. He was a life-time resident of St. Landry Parish and was active in the Cattleman's Association, the drainage board and the Department of Agriculture in Baton Rouge.

Survivors include: his children's mother, Eula Morris Savoie; one son, Ronald "Ronnie" Savoie; one daughter, Donna S. Lafleur, and his son-in-law, Freddie Lafleur, all of Opelousas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Matt Lafleur, Morgan Lafleur and Mckenzie Lafleur.

Mr. Savoie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Katherine Devalcourt Savoie; nine brothers, Albert Savoie, Gervis Savoie, Eldridge Savoie, William "Bill" Savoie, Ashton Savoie, Alvin Savoie, Carrol Savoie, Louis Savoie and Henry Savoie.

Visitation was 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and will be 8 a.m. to time of service Tuesday.
