Funeral Held Today for Hamilton Burleigh, 72
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today for Hamilton Burleigh, 72, who died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday at his home in Bellevue. He had been ill several weeks.
A native of Sunset, Burleigh had resided in Bellevue for 39 years. He was a retired planter and sweet potato buyer and shipper.
The Rev. R.E. Walton officiated at services at Louisiana Memorial Methodist Church. Burial was in Myrtle Grove cemetery under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.
Burleigh is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Arnold of Bellevue; four sons: Horace of Baton Rouge, Ira, Luther and Louis of Bellevue; five daughters, Mrs. Saul Speyrer of Opelousas, Miss Iva Mae Burleigh of Bellevue, Mrs. Minnie B. Oliphant and Mrs. Robert Hendrick both of Corpus Christi, Tex., and Mrs. C. J. Caillouet of Baton Rouge; and 18 grandchildren.
